My favourite cosy fall nail polish shades: rich reds, deep greens, and moody tones perfect for autumn!

Autumn is, without a doubt, one of my favourite seasons, and not just for the crisp air and endless cups of tea. It’s my favourite colour palette: rich ochres, deep reds, and velvety greens that make everything feel warm, nostalgic, and a little bit enchanted.

As I have mentioned in other posts, I love doing my own nails. It’s such a relaxing ritual, that small pocket of quiet time where I slow down, focus, and emerge feeling instantly more put-together. And in fall, it always feels just a bit more witchy (I was and still am, a massive Charmed fan so you know…).

So, unsurprisingly, I have a few favourite nail polish shades I reach for year after year once the leaves start turning red.

For reference, my skin is light and neutral with olive undertones, which might help you picture whether these would work for you too.

From Darkest to Lightest

Essie Licorice

A pure, glossy black that instantly channels your inner witch. Chic, dramatic, and endlessly flattering.

Essie Wicked

The most gorgeous near-black red: rich, vampy, and so on trend with this season’s cherry cola and black cherry tones.

Essie Seeing Stars

A warm brown shot through with copper and gold glitter. It’s unexpected but beautiful, like a cosy candlelight version of hot chocolate.

OPI Midnight Mantra

A true navy that somehow manages to be deep yet soft. It’s sophisticated without feeling harsh, and pairs beautifully with gold jewelry.

Essie Off Tropic

The perfect dark green: moody but elegant. It reminds me of the deep green walls of English pubs, comforting and timeless.

Essie Playing Koi

A burnt orange with a touch of red, vibrant but wearable, especially on olive skin tones from light to deep. It’s like autumn leaves bottled up.

Essie Island Hopping

A muted purple-mauve that’s the closest I’ll get to a nude in colder months. Understated, soft, and super flattering.

Disclaimer : most of my recommendations are from Essie, not sponsored, just true love. Their formula lasts beautifully on me, and their colour range is hard to beat. I also adore Mavala, Sally Hansen, OPI, and Zoya.
